Gifts in Practice
Love is an action, never simply a feeling.”
— bell hooks, All About Love
Each of my offerings is rooted in connection, inviting mutual exchange, not as debt but as interdependence and ongoing relationship.
My intention is to offer everyday gifts of practice to enrich your liberatory path and inspire reciprocation that feels in alignment with your values. The following gifts are offered as foundational pillars for increased freedom, interconnection, care, and joy. You may find that many of the offerings overlap-they are designed to come together synchronistically to enhance liberation in the everyday.
My offerings currently include individual coaching and therapy sessions, interactive group workshops, educational presentations, and writing via Substack. I welcome any questions and/or inquiries about ways we can connect.
I am able to suggest monetary contributions, given that we currently live in a transactional market economy, but I also welcome discussion about how the needs of all parties can be met. Feel free to reach out to me to discuss what feels most accessible and meaningful to you.
May these gifts support life and liberation for all.
Liberation with Nature: Ecotherapy
“As we work to heal the earth, the earth heals us.”
- Robin Wall Kimmerer, Braiding Sweetgrass
(To be happy) “We need to be embedded in and bond deeply with our human tribe, our animal and plant neighbors, and our place.”
-Linda Buzzell, Ecotherapy: Healing with Nature in Mind
Ecotherapy offers ways to connect deeper with Earth, human beings, and other-than-human beings that can lead to individual and collective healing and transformation. Developed from a decolonization/uncolonization lens. Informed by mindfulness; interbeing; reciprocation with nature; Indigenous sovereignty and return of land; and honoring ancestors.
Through this offering, I invite you to cultivate your relationship with nature, animals, plants, and other human beings as a way to access the knowing of interconnection. I am a certified ecotherapist through The Earthbody Institute and participated in the Zen and the Art of Saving the Planet training through Plum Village. I regularly commune with nature through hikes in the Sonoran Desert and San Juan Mountains with my caramel colored fur-baby Kapri.
Liberating Daily Living: Sustainable Living Practices
“Living simply makes loving simple.” -bell hooks
“Live simply so that others may simply live.”
-Mahatma Gandhi
Explore everyday practices to simplify living while expanding your heart and helping the planet. Discover how to incorporate plant-based eating, no-tox/no-waste DIY home cleaning and self-care products, and reducing burdens of overconsumption and excessive accumulation. Voluntary simplicity, minimalism, tiny living are also covered.
The invitation here is to reimagine ways of living that reduce harm to Earth, animals, other human beings, and ourselves, while increasing quality of life and freedom. I have trained as a Plant-based Eating Coach through the Food Revolution Network. My passions lie in cooking simple gourmet plant-based meals for friends, serving them tea, and sharing sustainable treasures for home and self-care. I’m also madly in love with my tiny space and minimal stuff!
Personal & Collective Liberation: Writing
“Nonviolent action, born of the awareness of suffering and nurtured by love, is the most effective way to confront adversity.”
-Thich Nhat Hanh
“Solidarity comes from the inability to tolerate the affront to our own integrity... our liberation is bound up with that of every other being on the planet.”
-*Aurora Levins Morales, Medicine Stories
Writing as nonviolent action during this time of immense adversity is not only therapeutic and values-affirming for myself, the writer, but can bridge chasms of judgment, othering, and separation among humans and other-than-humans. Leaning on Buddhist concepts, minimalism, nature inspiration, and a desire to liberate my own and all living beings’ hearts, I offer poetry, essays, blog posts as gifts on Substack and in my future-visioned book, “Reimagining What is True.”
Body Liberation & Freedom with Food: Body Trust/Intuitive Eating
“You were born knowing how to eat. You can trust your body again.”
-Evelyn Tribole & Elyse Resch, Intuitive Eating
“Healing is political. Body trust is resistance.”
- Hilary Kinavey & Dana Sturtevant
Remember back to a time, maybe as a child, when you ran, played, and laughed without a second thought about what you should or shouldn’t be eating or how your body appeared. I believe it is possible to regain this freedom and peace.
Intuitive Eating and Body Trust are offered as approaches that enable you to be the expert on your body and what you eat, allowing for greater attunement with your own needs. Developed within social justice, anti-oppression, LGBTQ+ affirming, and fat-affirming frameworks, I offer a non-healthist Health at Every Size approach. My work in this space is trauma-informed, acknowledges social determinants of health and systemic oppressive factors that impact how individuals and communities experience being in their bodies and the food they are able to choose.
I am a certified Intuitive Eating Counselor and am actively training with the Center for Body Trust. As a person who lives in a larger body and has lived experience with eating disorders, I have embraced this work myself. I believe in the power of reclaiming body trust as being integral to a liberatory journey from oppressive systemic structures of patriarchy, white supremacy, and diet culture. I would be honored to share in this journey with you.
Spiritual Liberation: Mindfulness / Meditation
“Enlightenment is when a wave realizes it is the ocean.”
-Thích Nhất Hạnh
“Our spiritual liberation is not about escaping the world-it is about fully arriving in it with our whole hearts.” -adrienne maree brown
Mindfulness and meditation coaching are offered as ways to support the cultivation of equanimity and the ability to respond from a place of conscious effectiveness, especially during these times of great tumult. This offering invites all beings to come home to themselves through quiet, inner, spacious practices that also lead to the insight of interconnection with one another. Based in Buddhist concepts of interbeing, impermanence, and Bodhisattva intent, these offerings promote a path toward spiritual liberation while remaining grounded in accessible practices.
For those seeking a more secular approach to mindfulness, concepts from Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) and Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) are offered to help increase emotional regulation and distress tolerance. As these skills are developed, the hope is to help build a foundation for calm, measured response, and wisdom as we traverse life’s most rocky terrain.
As a Licensed Independent Counselor, I have participated in numerous trainings on mindfulness and DBT. I have also received the Five Mindfulness Trainings through Plum Village. May all beings be free. This wish guides all that I offer.
Liberating Minds:
Mental Health Therapy & Advocacy
“Mental health struggles are not personal failures. They are often sane responses to insane systems.”
-Johann Hari, Lost Connections
“Care is a radical act. Listening is revolutionary. Safety is collective.”
-Decolonizing Therapy / Dr. Jennifer Mullan
Mental health care and awareness are central to my own liberatory path and my focus in supporting others on their liberatory journeys. I am a mental health professional and a person with lived experience as being diagnosed with mental illness as part of the industrial medical complex. Through both experiences, I am acutely aware of the many harms perpetrated from a Eurocentric, individualized, pathologizing approach to treating mental health. My own healing journey has allowed for reclaiming pathologized experiences as responses to colonization, spiritual awakenings, and guideposts to personal and collective meaning-making.
My work as a therapist includes a philosophy of walking beside my clients, believing they are the experts on themselves, as well as emotional decolonization and collective healing work, based on Dr. Jennifer Mullan’s work in Decolonizing Therapy. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Arizona and am able to accept insurance for clients in Arizona as a way to increase accessibility.
My intention is to provide care for increased mental and emotional well-being, as well as advocacy for navigating oppressive systems we currently live within. Non-traditional aspects of healing are also offered, including seasonal practices, grief rituals, and connection to community. Let’s move toward more authentic personal and systemic mental health transformation together.
Freedom From Technology: Reducing Digital Tethers
“Technology is not evil, but our addiction to it is a sign of deeper disconnection.”
-Thich Nhat Hanh
“We are not wired for 24/7 connectivity—we are wired for sunrise, song, and silence.”
- Tricia Hersey, Rest Is Resistance
Digital health expert Dr. Nicholas Kardaras talks about how the digital age has hijacked three basic human drives: the need for social connection; neophilia: our need to explore and discover new things; and our need for archetypal experiences, such as the Hero’s Journey. I would argue that technology has also hijacked our innate need for connection with nature and has compromised our nervous systems to unnatural levels.
Coaching services I offer related to improving digital health center around bringing more awareness to our relationship to the digital world and ways that it impedes our freedom. We can then build daily practices that allow us to use technology as a mindful tool and not become “the tool of their tools,” as Thoreau said.
I am a Licensed Independent Addiction Counselor in the state of Arizona and hold a certification with the National Institute for Digital Health. I invite you to open to the possibilities of living more fully with less technology burden, allowing for more rest, spaciousness, pleasure, play, nature and human connection in real life.
Liberatory Relationships: Customizing Connections
“Love is abundant, and every relationship is unique.”
- Andie Nordgren, The Relationship Anarchy Manifesto
“Love is political when it defies control, property, and power. Liberatory love makes space for freedom, not possession.”
-bell hooks, paraphrased from All About Love
The Nap Ministry tells us “Love is not scarce. Systems that want to control us tell us otherwise.” This is foundational to my coaching offerings related to liberatory relationships. I am passionate about helping people dismantle societal templates and design their relationships on their own terms. This can look like nurturing all kinds of relationships-friendships, partnerships, collaborations. This work also supports divesting from relationship hierarchies, while honoring autonomy as much as belonging.
Through this coaching offering I aim to help you clarify your core relationship values, improve authentic expression when letting go of traditional societal norms, and customize your commitments and connections with others.
My work as a therapist and my personal experience deconditioning my beliefs and relationships from traditionally prescribed structures and roles allows me to bring a skillful approach to this space. I’m excited to walk beside you as you discover and create relationships that most align with your heart.
Liberation From Modernity & Hustle Culture: Living the Slug Life
“Our ancestors’ wildest dreams weren’t just survival-they were freedom, softness, music, dreaming, rest.”
-Tricia Hersey
“Liberated from work, life becomes play.”
-Bob Black
The modern way of living, especially hustle culture and work as structured under capitalism, is inherently alienating and dehumanizing, yet productivity as identity is normalized. When was the last time you allowed for rest and pleasure without feeling guilty? What if we could turn the whole system on its head and reinvent how we live? These are questions we explore in this coaching offering.
Not ignoring the realities of current economic disparities, the need to provide food and shelter for ourselves and our families, and oppressive systems that impact an ability to access play and pleasure, this work focuses on ways to reclaim time, set boundaries, and connect with others who may be able to support slowing down, resting and dreaming again.
My dream is for all beings to be able to align more with nature’s rhythms and live the slug life, if that is what they choose. Wishing liberation from the current culture of overwork, hectic pacing, and grinding to survive, for us all.
